From time spent in Inner Mongolia working with wolves for a major motion picture, to working as an animal health assistant, to making a difference at the local animal shelter, Jessica’s passion speaks for itself.
Jessica lives with her two dogs, Bentley and Flash; a black lab and an italian greyhound. She has also enjoyed training her own horse, Arrow, a 5 year old quarter horse mare.
Jessica has experience with dogs of all temperaments and sizes as she has opened her home to over 15 foster dogs over the years. Fostering gives dogs a break from the shelter environment and prepares them for their new lives in a forever home. Even though opening her home and heart to these dogs proved difficult when it was time for them to move on, the experience was incredibly rewarding.
Kaitlyn is an animal lover with a soft spot for the sweet faces of rescue dogs. Her love of animals started at a young age with the family dogs, two beautiful huskies who loved the winter and tolerated the summer (much like Kaitlyn herself). The menagerie grew over the years with the addition of two rescued hedgehogs, various hamsters and, of course, fish.
Kaitlyn knew at an early age that she was going to be a vet and, as soon as she got her driver’s license, she began volunteering at a vet’s office and attending dog training classes.
After losing their beloved husky in 2015, Kaitlyn and her family began fostering and volunteering with Misty Creek Dog Rescue. In just under two years, they have opened their home to more than 50 dogs, including spending a Christmas with a mom and her seven 4-week old puppies! Kaitlyn has experience dealing with dogs of all temperaments, sizes, and with fear and reactivity issues.
She completed her Bachelor of Science in 2016 and decided to take some time off before going to vet school.
Currently sharing her home are her dogs Nikki (a Blue Heeler Sheltie mix), Arwen (a Husky GSD mix), and Marty (a NWT Special mix). When she isn’t taking her dogs for off-leash adventures, Kaitlyn is busy taking pictures, watching movies, or colouring.
